And here’s my first OOO fanfic. I mostly wrote it to even out my count at ffn, as well as I was inspired, so.
In any case, spoilers through the end of OOO episode 2, rated 8.
Summary: Eiji doesn’t want to become like Ankh.

Eiji studied Ankh as the Greeed sucked on his popsicle. He wasn’t sure on how to deal with him – he knew that Ankh had to be split from the policeman’s body, but he wasn’t sure how. There was so much going on that he wasn’t sure about, especially about Ankh’s nature.
One thing he was sure of was that Ankh didn’t care about anything except himself, most of the time. Eiji was sure that he, himself, was second on Ankh’s list, though that might be the nature of the belt. Ankh might be just as stuck with him just as he was stuck with Ankh. He knew that demanding to have the belt whenever he wanted as he was dangling off the building was a risk – but he knew that even if he’d died, it would have at least given Ankh some pause. The fact that Ankh had grudgingly agreed at least had shown that there was something at work there. Something that Eiji could grasp onto and use.
He had to confess, using someone like Ankh was prone to use him was something he didn’t like to do. He didn’t want to try to manipulate Ankh like Ankh had done with him. He already felt guilty about sending that text message to the policeman’s younger sister, pretending her older brother was on “long-term assignment”. He hoped that they wouldn’t run into her while Ankh had her brother’s body.
And just as much, he was stuck relying on Ankh to tell him about loose Yummys – the Greeed seemed to have a sense for such things. Eiji wondered if he’d eventually have the ability to sense them like Ankh did, just so he didn’t have to rely on Ankh so much. There was so much he didn’t know about the belt he’d accepted from Ankh!
That grasshopper Yummy had warned him against taking up the belt. At the time, he’d thought that it was trying to save its own life, but he was starting to wonder. It was a forbidden belt, but why? Why would he be sorry he took it on? Would he become a Greeed too, eventually? Or Ankh’s mindless follower?
He hoped not. He enjoyed being Eiji. He enjoyed being free, not needing much, not being like Ankh. If he became like Ankh, or something like the monsters he’d seen… he hoped he wouldn’t live that long. A shiver ran through him.
Ankh continued sucking on his popsicle, oblivious to Eiji’s concerns and worries. Eiji doubted Ankh would ever notice them at all. He was a Greeed. Sighing, Eiji laid back and tried to keep an eye on Ankh, not knowing what to do next, other than try to live his life the best he could, value his freedom, and free the policeman. Someday.
Closing his eyes, Eiji hoped that someday would come soon.
