I’ve been on a Kamendressing fic kick lately (a set of stories I’m loosely calling the Kotarou Storyline) on here and my OC archive, so I apologize for doing so much KD-ficspam. I do really write fic other than that, I promise!
Turning to an entirely different set of vampires, over the weekend I watched RH+, a Japanese Drama. RH+ centers on four vampires, most of which are pretty young, and in particular on Nogami Makoto, the newest member of the bunch. The next set of random ramblings under the cut spoil much of the series.
These vampires go and deal with cases the Police can’t solve, usually because it involves other vampires. Intermingled with this is Makoto’s past, because he has a rather angsty one – his mother, having seen him drinking blood (apparently it’s possible in this universe to be born a vampire), freaks out, tries to kill him, and when he survives, turns him over to a very stern priest (who terrorizes the hell out of him). In fact, the last arc has to do with the priest and Makoto’s mother being killed by his father, who wants to get his hands on a not-very-happy Makoto. There are other storylines as well, some a bit comedic (Ageha is a total packrat when it comes to things Kiyoi gives him) and some sad (Kiyoi’s got some angst about his past and a man he knew).
There are some things I have to rewatch, because I’m still not sure how vampires are created in this universe. Are they born like that, like Makoto was? Or are they changed? In the arc with Makoto’s father, it sounds like Ageha was changed into a vampire by Kiyoi… or at least he wasn’t born one, and there’s a picture of Kiyoi with a smiling kid. What makes them different from humans, other than drinking blood? They can eat, drink stuff that isn’t blood, and go out in sunlight… yes, they like blood, but, they don’t seem to need it.
I keep getting distracted by Ageha, who shares an actor with Asumu from Hibiki. Definitely have to watch this some more.
