estiroseIt was a good movie. Not the best movie ever, but still, I enjoyed it!
First of all, if you're looking for the cameo of Ryoma Takeuchi (Tim's Japanese dub voice, who also played the lead character in Kamen Rider Drive), he shows up in a video near the beginning of the movie. The same video actually has a line that foreshadows the ultimate adventure plot.
The pacing was decent, though there was a bit in the middle which I thought dragged (in the promos, it's that rising landscape shot), and I thought parts of the final fight could have been shortened, mostly involving Tim and his opponent(s). There was also a spot in there that my embarrassment squick reared its head - it's partially shown in one trailer where Tim is in his boxers and Pikachu mentions that he doesn't wear underwear.
I really did enjoy the interaction between Tim and Pikachu. I thought the reason that it's implied they could talk to each other was really interesting. Mewtwo was a fantastic character (and there's something missing from the shot in the trailers when he pops out of the Pikachu balloon in the trailer). I loved Mr. Mime's scenes and Tim just had a field day communicating with that character.
Oh, and the theme song shows up in an unexpected place.
