Semi-buyer beware (Boox)
Apr. 23rd, 2024 04:39 pmI picked up a used Boox Palma recently and as it states, it is literally used. Not refurbished, used.
I think they may have verified that the device was wiped etc, but the Palma came in a box that contained the box that the original owner shipped it in, return label and all. (They slapped a white label on top of that label, but it wasn't that hard to peel off.)
So if you live in Ohio, did a GoFundMe for your mom last year, and maybe recently returned a white Boox Palma... I have ended up with your device? Also, you were really easy to google and I think I found your Pinterest.

Date: 2024-04-24 03:03 pm (UTC)Also, I was a tad disconcerted that I could discover the previous owner's name and address - while neither of these is considered Personal Identifiable Information, it's just... if I had to return my Palma, I wouldn't want my wallet name and address to be exposed. This person has an extremely uncommon first and last name and I'm in the same situation - both of us are fairly easily searchable with only one or two other people with the same first and last name in the country/world. The stuff I mentioned above was a five-minute google search... and probably would have taken less time if I didn't have to figure out which one of two people this person was.
(I am liking my Palma so far, that being said. It's a nice device once I got over the slight learning curve and dealt with the Kindle app's bizarre desire to import all my PDFs despite the fact that I told it over and over again not to import them. I don't need my fanfic in that app, thanks!)
