estiroseSo I've put a pause on Coral Island. I just got too frustrated by it.
Without spoilering stuff, to get to Town Rank A (where you get access to a ton more stuff), you have to revive the ocean, complete the offerings (the community center equivalent), and complete at least 2 collections - gems (the easiest), fossils, artifacts, insects, ocean crawlers or fish. Or at least that's what I figure you need based on mathing. I could probably have completed the fishing collection, but eh. I don't enjoy catching them all, and going for perfection should be in my hands, not the game's.
If I can do so, I am going to add a mod next time around to short-circuit the awareness mechanism for critters/insects just to make those bits way less maddening.
In the meantime, I've restarted Stardew Valley with Stardew Valley Expanded 1.15, which adds a ton more to an already busy mod. (I'm loving the new Frontier Farm and its collection of fruit trees!) To go with that mod and its dependencies, I'm running five more mods:
* Better Shipping Bin, which handles the part of Chests Anywhere I care about (that is, being able to take things in and out of the bin, which makes more sense than vanilla).
* Junimatic, a slightly less cheaty Automate that makes you work towards automation. Right now, I've got automated furnaces (and other mining related things), but I'm working towards eventually being able to do the same with plant products and animal products (which are the vast majority of my Automate queues).
* UI Info Suite 2, mainly for the partial hearts and NPC map locations with the rest turned off - I can't turn off the prices or the community center hints, but that's okay.
* My shop mod, which adds random-but-related items to vanilla shop inventories - a bit cheaty but still not extraordinarily so.
* My slightly easier combat mod, which reduces monster health and attack by 10% each.
Most of these are to give me a bit more power without making the game too easy. I'm thinking of one more mod - maybe something under the Personal Rooms framework, which will allow me to maybe add a bathroom. (Would this give me an extra bit of stamina regen? Yes. But I rarely use the bath house stamina regen and I don't see this being any more than ornamental in later than early game.)
