This is one of those one-question-each-day writing memes, which I found while looking for Remix recs. I’m not doing it for “Three Weeks for Dreamwidth” because I promised that I’d actually remember that I have a blog outside it.

1) Why do you write?

I write because I need to write. There’s always some story going on in my head; I need to get them out, even if I don’t get them out completely. I am rarely not writing something, though it might take me a few years to pick up the pieces again. I’m one of those writers who is so prolific because I find it hard to stop writing. Most of what I write is fanfic, but I like delving into original fic as well. (And I’d guess my family, while supportive in general of my writing habits, wouldn’t mind if I, say, became a published writer.)

 

2) What piece of writing are you most proud of?
3) How often do you write? Do you have any writing rituals? Say, certain locations, beverages, background music, times of day, target word counts, etc.?
4) How much of the story do you know before you start writing it? Do you use outlines?
5) What tools do you use to write? Audio recordings, pen and paper, computer software, other methods, some mixture thereof?
6) How do you come up with names and story titles?
7) Do you use beta reader(s)? If so, what do you look for in a beta reader? What specialties would your ideal beta have?
What kind of support, if any, do you get for your writing?
