I absolutely have to share this wonderful fic I got for Yuletide this year. It's in a tiny fandom (I Want To Be a Wall (manga)) that had only 2 fics in it prior to this month, and I wrote both of those. It just reads like a missing scene of the manga, has all the wonderful relationship dynamics I love about it, and well, more AroAce rep is always good!

ETA: I did a fandom promo for this, I'm not sure whether my writer picked it up from there or had read it already but either way, I'm happy to find another person who loves my tiny 3-volume LGBTQIA+ found family manga.

Picked this up as part of a Humble Bundle. (Long story short, I wanted this and Little Kitty, Big City; I'd never heard of Minami Lane and The Ranch of Rivershine, also in the bundle, and I already had Spirit City: Lofi Sessions and Rusty's Retirement, both of which I enjoy and recommend.) I'm about two weeks in the game, game time-wise.

Non-spoilery thoughts: Reminds me so far of Wylde Flowers (another magical cozy), with some noticeable differences such as a customizable character (I like Tara and her storyline, but....) and a combat system.

I needed a distraction recently so I worked on an unofficial update to someone else's Content Patcher mod. I'm not including the entire mod here because I don't have permission (I just edited their code to match 1.6 for my own game). It might be useful for someone else who needs to alter a similar mod.

(Technically the 1.5 version should work? There was just one minor change that I made in the actual code by deleting 2 characters.)

Did Fic or Treat again this year (forgot about it until midway, but still participated). 7 requests, 7 fills. Did my fills on the 30th because I felt the 31st would be too crazy for me.

I think it went well! (Apart from the fact that you should never ask me to write comedy, I guess.) I don't think I've ever written a few of these POVs before (including LaCroix and Hajime, for some reason) so it was a bit of a challenge.

So I've put a pause on Coral Island. I just got too frustrated by it.

Without spoilering stuff, to get to Town Rank A (where you get access to a ton more stuff), you have to revive the ocean, complete the offerings (the community center equivalent), and complete at least 2 collections - gems (the easiest), fossils, artifacts, insects, ocean crawlers or fish. Or at least that's what I figure you need based on mathing. I could probably have completed the fishing collection, but eh. I don't enjoy catching them all, and going for perfection should be in my hands, not the game's.

If I can do so, I am going to add a mod next time around to short-circuit the awareness mechanism for critters/insects just to make those bits way less maddening.

The baskets have revealed! I received 3; I only manged to write one of my own pre-reveals, but since late entries are welcome I'm eyeing 1-2 baskets for late fills.

The fics I got:
* A worldbuilding fic for Pokemon Detective Pikachu (movie) by wonderminterplus/musekicker, about an ice cream man (with a Rockruff, one of my top 10 favorite Pokemon!) with a problem, and a kid with a solution (in this case, an Alolan Vulpix)! I love person-on-the-street worldbuilding fics for this fandom, because there are so many stories to be told about Ryme City, the people in it, and their Pokemon Partners.
* A 90s Tomorrow People fic by argentum_ls, which features Lisa, in a what-if where she retains her powers (but still isn't with the main cast anymore). Also, Lisa standing up to her mom! Lisa using her powers! Lisa with her own power that isn't in the standard Tomorrow People package!
* A podfic of one of my Pokemon Detective Pikachu fics by the lovely Peasina. Peasina is, as usual, a delight to listen to and I am always awed when I get the gift of an unexpected podfic from her. (I've gotten two previous ones, both from a charity auction.)

Got to look at it, looks like I'm requesting the max 6 fandoms this year, depending on what I can articulate in the way of prompts. And of course I'm going to be probably offering at least 10 fandoms, depending on which ones I can bucket list.

In regards to the fandoms I nominated:
Coral Island has 19 NPCs and worldbuilding nominated - that's about 40% of the cast, give or take. I always find it interesting to see what people nominate in canons with a large number of characters, and it looks like the tagset is some of the kids, a random selection of romanceables, and Betty (who doesn't have any fic about her for some reason?). I find it interesting that of the Denali-Miranjani-Semaru and cohort group (trying to avoid spoilery stuff here), only Semaru is nominated. I requested worldbuilding because I want more of three of the programs you can see on the TV (I wish there were more episodes of all the fictional TV series in that world! Okay, we get to see another episode for one of them in the heart events).

Fatal Frame III came in with just my characters, but someone or someones nominated II, IV, and V, as well as Spirit Camera. One of the tagsets makes me really hope they request this year as I want to know what they want with that set of characters.

Starman (TV) came in with just Scott, who was a kind of last minute nomination (I probably should have nominated more of the cast, but Scott would be the main focus of my requests). The related movie (Starman (1984)) came in with Jenny, the Starman, and their unnamed offspring (that in the series is Scott Hayden Jr) so I'm excited to see what they want.

I Want to Be a Wall showed up with not only my nominations (Gakurouta and Yuriko) but also Sousuke as well. There's another person who may be offering/requesting my tiny manga yay! I fandom promo'd the manga almost as soon as the promo post went up so maybe there are more of us requesting/offering.

Other fandoms-wise, I'm happy to see the current My Time At games, as well as Zero Escape, a fair amount of Final Fantasy games (none that I can offer, though), and the usual Kamen Riders, Super Sentai, and Power Rangers.
